What Is Your Daily Color? A Look Into How You Are Subconsciously Emitting Emotion

Here at Southeastern we know that visual signals hit the brain before any other senses. We also know that colors can influence emotions, actions, and even others around you. Have you ever heard the expression “you are what you eat?” well here we think you are what colors you are wearing, and those colors might be showing off how you subconsciously want others to see you. If its 8:00 a.m. and you are wearing a navy sweatshirt and black pants, you probably don’t want me to bother you with the questions game. But that girl over across the room with the bright yellow blouse on? She might. We know that the way something appears is the first thing that you will notice, and therefore acts as a representative, whether it is clothes on a person or a wall behind a display.

Take a look at the clothes you are wearing right now (if you are wearing clothes) and see what kind of emotion you might be subconsciously emitting.

Red – Powerful, Excited, Bold, Passionate,
Orange – Warm, Mellow, Friendly, Inviting, Retro
Yellow – Cheerful, Fun, Energetic, Young, Friendly
Green – Natural, Organic, Earthy, Trust, Jealous, Growing
Blue – Smart, Cold, Trust, Freedom, Progressive
Purple – Royal, Victorian, Elegant, Sensual, Eclectic
Brown – Rustic, Earthy, Colonial, Romantic

Even consider how many different combinations you can make using two colors.

Are you wearing a yellow shirt and brown pants? Perhaps you are feeling very energetic today but are also very attached to your roots. Are you wearing an orange shirt and no pants? Well maybe you’re Scottish, in which case you might be wearing a traditional red plaid kilt with that orange shirt, which might tell your friends that you are in a mellow mood but are also passionate.

We consider colors whenever we are designing a space, for instance using green shades in the floral department to give a sense of natural freshness. We know that from color to shape to texture, your experience is dependent on the things around you.
